Google Wave

I was so excited today when I was officially invited by Google to test out Google Wave!! It's awesome!!! It's like a wiki, GoogleDocs, IM, and iChat and Gmail all wrapped up into one - SO cool. I think this has incredible implications for education - students and teachers could collaborate on work in real time and everything would be stored in the "cloud" - I'll wrie more after I have a chance to play.....

Lost and Found

Two words that nicely sum up this week: Lost is back, baby! And thanks to the good people over at DarkUFO, my spare time is filled with theories, thoughts and Easter Eggs.
Found because after "changing careers" back in December - I've finally found what I've been looking for - a job in the most amazing school - doing what I love most - working with students and teachers and integrating technology into everyone's world! :-)

Parenthood

This weekend I made a concerted effort to be present. As a working mom, this is not always easy to do or, should I say, be. What does this have to do with the company, well, it has to do with my perspective as a mom. Knowing full well that I can't always be there and can't always watch over the boys shoulders, but it's teaching them right from wrong and proper behavior when I am around them. We all went trick-or-treating on Friday and I found myself saying, "Say thank you" about a million times...but eventually they caught on :-)

It was a fun night, sugar melt down and all. Last night we had a family game night and today took in the zoo. Definitely a "present" weekend. Enjoyed the extra hour and felt like the weekend didn't just disappear into oblivion for a change. Here's to more like this one!

Also, read a great blog post on Weblogg-ed.com about online behavior and who's fault it is. I'm really glad to see educators discussing this issue. I'd be glad to share, with anyone interested, a sample of our curriculum so teacher's can get idea of exactly how we approach this issue.

The Ophelia Project: National Conference

I had the honor of attending a national conference on bullying organized by the Ophelia Project these last two days. I learned so much from the presenters there. I also took from this conference a renewed energy and passion for the cyberbullying and social networking curriculum. Every educator that I met during the conference was in agreement that educating our students as to the risks of inappropriate online behavior was an essential and absent part of their school's curriculum. Now, more than ever, schools need to address these issues. The research supports our efforts. Let us help you bridge that knowledge gap.
